CART Mental Health Consultation

51ºÚÁÏ꿉۪s CART Mental Health Consultation program provides support for improving the social, emotional and behavioral health of young children (ages 0 - 5) and the adults and caregivers who support them.
Families and child care providers can make referrals for individual children, child care classrooms, and/or child care programs. Mental Health Consultation is designed to build the capacity of professionals and families in understanding the powerful influence that relationships and interactions have on young children’s development.
This free service is funded through Early Childhood Iowa grants and is available in Benton, Cedar, Johnson, Jones, and Tama counties.

CART Mental Health Consultation staff will conduct a behavior assessment for referred children, identify strategies and practices providers and teachers may use, and provide coaching/implementation assistance to guide childcare providers working with the challenging behaviors in young children.  Individualized behavior support plans may be created to further support social-emotional wellbeing of the child, as well as each child care provider/teacher will participate in a coaching partnership that will give them information about ways they can assure their classroom-wide setting contributes to the success and well-being of all children in their care.

Because CART is a Benton, Cedar, Johnson, Jones and Tama County Early Childhood Iowa Grant funded program, referrals to this program are limited only to those counties.
